Overview: Abacus Technology is in need of an Application Services Technician to support commercial application architecture and security models. This is a full-time position supporting the AETC at Randolph AFB.
Major Duties & Responsibilities: Integrate, install, configure, operate, and maintain network management applications such as the NetIQ suite of tools, Remedy, Smart InCharge, and their associated databases. Troubleshoot, monitor, and perform network diagnostics. Work with other functional areas (Messaging, Directory Services, and Storage Management) to tune monitoring capability based on the functional requested information. Implement network and system management monitoring in accordance with AF guidelines. Evaluate configuration/change management requests and implement in accordance with change management processes. Train junior technicians and develop training materials.
Qualifications: 5 years experience in administration for network management tools in an enterprise-level environment. Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Certifications and/or training such as Security+, CISSP, or MCSE are highly desirable. Extensive experience with network management tools such as NetIQ and Remedy. Experience withenterprise vulnerability prevention and detection, automated patching, and remediation techniques. Working knowledge of current operating systems, standard network services and protocols, systems software, automated tools, directory services, transmission media, and all other components comprising network architectures. Familiarity with the Air Force Network Operations Center (AFNOC) and Network Control Center (NCC) infrastructure including roles and responsibilities of each function are highly desirable. Database Manager
Overview: Abacus Technology is in need of a Database Manager to provide design and development for SharePoint applications and related technologies. This is a full-time position at Randolph AFB.
Major Duties & Responsibilities: Review and analyze business requirements and functional requirements, taking into account existing research, prototyping efforts, and proof-of-concepts as needed. Architect, develop, and deploy technical solutions to meet needs identified internally and by business units using SharePoint and its related services. Understand and translate user interface and business requirements into implementation plan. Participate in design reviews to ensure the design will meet business requirements. Enable workflows through InfoPath, including surveys. Create custom web parts for required site elements using C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET. Create custom controls using ASP.NET. Create connections to systems to allow display KPIs and dashboards using component such as Excel Services, SQL Reporting Services, K2, Dundas, and Infragistics. Ensure and manage platform scalability. Develop training materials/checklist and train key stakeholders/users. Identify new content areas. Design software components. Document technical design of software. Code, test and install software components. Provide updates and briefings regarding project status and issues. Maintain awareness of new directives and technologies as appropriate. Maintain developed software, updating as needed to satisfy requirement changes and future initiatives.
Qualifications: 5+ years experience including software development and database management. Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Work related certifications desirable.Experience developing web applications using .NET Framework, C# and/or VB .NET, ASP.NET, XML, XSLT, HTML, DHTML, VBScript, JavaScript, and CSS. Experience in design and application development using Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) and Windows SharePoint Services. Thorough knowledge of SQL Server 2000/2005 Database Management, Architecture, Development, SQL Reporting Services, and OLAP cube development. Experience with the design and development of management dashboards, Business Intelligence tools, and data visualization tools (i.e. KPIs). Working knowledge of operating systems, e-mail, network services and protocols, systems software, automated tools, directory services, transmission media, and all other components comprising network architectures. Knowledge of security requirements in the DOD and methods to secure COTS products on a DOD network. Working knowledge of Web Services, InfoPath, WebParts, AJAX, and Active Directory is desired. Familiarity with 3rd party tools such as K2.net, K2 BlackPearl, Dundas, and Infragistics. Familiarity with MS Project and MS Excel desired. Network Administrator - Messaging
Overview: Abacus Technology is in need of a Messaging Administrator to provide network administration for enterprise Exchange servers and software locally and remote. This is a full-time position supporting the AETC at Randolph AFB.
Major Duties & Responsibilities: Provide operations and maintenance for MS Exchange servers and software including both local sites and remote locations. Install, configure, operate, and maintain messaging components. Lead the design, testing, development, and migration of messaging services. Document the design, testing, development and migration efforts for the AETC messaging environment. Provide updates/briefings regarding current status of issues. Utilize network management performance tools to ensure optimum performance and system availability. Verify successful backups of messaging servers under the control of the AETC NOSC. Coordinate and perform preventive maintenance of messaging components as needed. Coordinate and apply patches, software upgrades, and firmware updates to messaging components. Audit system logs for items of concern – take actions as appropriate. Document/maintain system documentation used in the daily administration/maintenance of the AETC messaging environment. Evaluate configuration/change management requests and implement in accordance with change management processes. Train junior technicians and develop training materials.

Network Security Administrator
Overview: Abacus Technology is in need of a Network Security Administrator to oversee the response to and threat analysis of network events. This is a full-time position supporting the AETC at Randolph AFB.
Major Duties & Responsibilities: Respond to network events and provide internal/external IT threat analysis of the effect on operational availability of enterprise networks. Provide a detailed report to the government program manager. Respond to Notices to Airmen (NOTAM), Maintenance Task Orders (MTOs), and Network Task Orders (NTOs) and evaluate and design solutions to ensure their implementation following approved policies and procedures. Coordinate with Air Force Network Operations Center (AFNOC) Network Security Division (NSD) on security incidents. Follow Government procedures to request and receive authorization for all service interruptions. Conduct and review vulnerability assessment scans and direct remediation actions to system owners using Air Force tools (currently eEye Retina, DISA’s Vulnerability Management System database, and in the future Vulnerability Lifecycle Management System). Monitor system and network alerting tools (currently Smart InCharge and NetIQ App Manager) for network events and disruptions. Evaluate configuration/change management requests and implement in accordance with change management processes. Train junior technicians and develop training materials.
